(NAPSI)-One of the best ways to add a room with a view is to create a garden room.

That's the latest concept in landscaping and it may be as simple as adding a deck or creating a private space with some fencing.

A wide variety of materials are available for fences and decks, including wood, vinyl, and composite materials that combine wood with plastic or vinyl. Color-coated and/or slatted chain-link and ornamental fence materials are also available.

Wood fences and decks can be painted to match a home or left to weather naturally, while vinyl and most composite fences and decks do not need painting and are available in several colors, such as white, gray and brown. Vinyl and composite materials require very little maintenance; with no painting or staining required, though some composite fences may be painted, if desired.

Vinyl, wood and composite materials can be used to build a variety of fence types, such as privacy and post and rail, while vinyl can also simulate ornamental iron fence.

Privacy fences, which can be personalized with latticework, decorative post caps, cut outs or curved tops, are a popular choice for creating an "outdoor room." Privacy fences can completely shield a property from its neighbors or have a slightly open design to allow air to flow through.

Slatted chain-link also offers a more private backyard getaway, and homeowners can find slats in colors that coordinate with their homes or create a pattern using different colored slats.

For homeowners with a beautiful view, ornamental or color-coated chain-link materials may be the best choices for fencing because they provide "see-through" security.

Depending on the color, these fences can become virtually invisible, as they blend into the landscape. Color-coated chain-link is available in green, black, and brown, while ornamental steel and aluminum fences are available in a wide variety of colors, from black and white to more custom colors that match homes.

A reputable American Fence Association contractor can help you choose the right fence and deck for your needs.
