(NC)-Canadians own about 18 million cars, vans and other light duty vehicles and typically drive them approximately 290 billion kilometers a year. To some degree our vehicle use can be explained by our harsh climate and the vast size of our country.

In light of today's high fuel costs, much can be done to improve fuel efficiency through better purchasing decisions, efficient driving habits, by eliminating any unnecessary driving and by ensuring your vehicle is properly maintained.

The fact of the matter is, our transportation habits and preferences can be improved to attain better fuel efficiency and to reduce the impact vehicles have on the environment.

Natural Resources Canada has some pretty convincing information on its website and in its publications that will make you re-think the way you drive, maintain or purchase your vehicles.
