Coraline, a new video game...find out more with this article from Napsi.

(NAPSI)-A fascinating new video game allows players to open the door to a "fantasical" new world.

"Coraline," a game inspired by Neil Gaiman's international, bestselling and Hugo Award-winning novella "Coraline" and based on the feature film, lets players relive the movie and beyond as they assume the role of the adventurous heroine Coraline and interact with the colorful characters from the movie. The adventure begins when Coraline Jones walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life. On the surface, this parallel reality is eerily similar to her real life--only much better. But when this wondrously off-kilter, fantastical adventure turns dangerous, and her counterfeit parents try to keep her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination and bravery to get back home--and save her family.

The only video game based on the movie, "Coraline" offers two distinct and interactive game worlds for players to explore--the brooding Normal World and the fantastical Other World. Players will take on the role of Coraline and with the help of her faithful friends, Wybie and Cat, navigate the scheming Other Mother's web of deceit.

Players have their own scrapbook to fill with collectible items and photos. One-of-a-kind minigames and puzzles inspired by the film extend the game-play experience as players earn buttons to unlock new outfits to customize Coraline's look.

D3Publisher collaborated with the film's creators Focus Features, Laika Entertainment and director Henry Selick, the visionary director of "The Nightmare Before Christmas," to bring the personality and humor of the stop-motion animated film and its characters to life. The game's graphical style and tone are inspired by the film and its eerie tone. A musical score inspired by the film was created specifically for the game. Dakota Fanning (Coraline), Keith David (Cat) and Robert Bailey Jr. (Wybie) reprise their roles from the movie for an additional level of authenticity to the video game.

"Coraline" will allow players to explore and interact with such immersive 3-D environments from the movie as the Pink Palace, its nooks and crannies and apartments, and the unpredictable Other World.

The "Coraline" video game for Wii™, Nintendo DS™ and the PlayStation®2 offers fun and fantasy for players and a chance to extend the movie's enjoyable adventures. It's available in stores for $29.95.

A new game gives fans of the "Coraline" movie another medium in which to enjoy its magical and mysterious universe.
