What's Love Got To Do With It?

(NAPSI)-Can dry skin cause your love life to tank? It just might, according to one survey.

A whopping 69 percent of men and 68 percent of women recently polled by Kelton Research said it was "a turn-off" to be touched by someone with rough skin. This could be especially bad news for guys looking to connect, since almost a quarter of them admitted to waiting till their skin was literally cracked before applying lotion.

So what's the best way to keep your skin-and possibly your relationship-healthy? Skin care expert Dr. Francesca Fusco, one of New York City's most sought-after dermatologists, offers these tips:

• Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize-The good news is you don't have to spend $200 on skin cream. You can find a number of inexpensive, heavy moisturizers to keep your skin looking supple. Products such as Pond's Dry Skin Cream will soften and smooth skin to leave it looking radiant.

• Take It Off-Don't wear makeup while exercising. Makeup prevents perspiration from being excreted correctly and can cause breakouts. Wash your face and add a light moisturizer before hitting the gym.

• Splish Splash-To avoid dry skin and even eczema, avoid long hot baths and showers. Apply a hard-working lotion such as Suave Skin Therapy Advanced Therapy Lotion after bathing. The formula, with multivitamins and glycerin, helps damp skin lock in moisture.

• Protect Hands-Take steps to keep your hands moisturized and looking young. Coat hands with a heavy moisturizer daily and try to wear moisturizing gloves overnight, once a week.

• Drink Up-Drink at least eight glasses of water throughout the day. If you smoke, quit. Smoking adds premature lines and dryness to the face.

• Exfoliate Twice A Week-Use products made from tiny polyethylene beads, which have no rough edges, when exfoliating your face. For the body, try Caress Sensational Smoothing Body Wash. The lather, featuring tiny polishing pearls, gently smooths the skin.

• What's On Your Plate?-Whether you're on South Beach, The Zone or Atkins, pay attention to what you eat. Many people don't get enough unsaturated fat-a nutrient vital to good skin health. Try supplementing your diet with flaxseed or fish oil capsules daily.
