How to Turn Your Favorite Room into a Luxurious Place to Spend the Winter

(ARA) – The arrival of winter usually means you have to abandon your favorite room in the house because it’s about to get very cold in there. But the three season porch, your home spa or a lower level exercise room would all be viable year round if you could just heat them.

“A lot of people think that’s easier said than done because they don’t want to go to the expense of adding duct work to a part of the home where none exists. What they don’t seem to realize is that there are other ways to heat a room,” says Tom Morrissey, president of the Woodstock Soapstone Company of West Lebanon, N.H. His company offers a solution for one-room heating that goes way beyond your conventional space heater. The Mini Franklin Gas Stove is more like a piece of furniture.

Inspired by classic ship stoves, it is designed to make that one cold room in your home warm and cozy, while also being appealing to the eye. While the stove is small, measuring just 17 inches high, 14 1/2 inches wide and 15 inches deep, it is capable of heating a 100 to 400 square foot space with even, steady and penetrating heat thanks to its soapstone exterior, which has twice the heat storage ability of metal.

The Mini Franklin consists of soapstone panels in a beautifully designed iron frame available in charcoal, matte black or metallic blue, brown or gray. Installation options include a slate topped wall mount and a slate topped stand. Both will elevate the Mini Franklin to a height of about 30-inches, just about eye level if you are sitting at a table or desk.

Once you have the heating source in place, you can turn your attention to decorating your space for winter. A heated porch would make the perfect place for the Christmas tree. You can even hang some plastic icicles from the windows. To bring the feel of the season to a home spa or den, you may want to add bowls filled with pinecones and evergreen potpourri, or perhaps red and green candles.

All Woodstock stoves are made to order, but it’s not too late to get one in time for winter. Log on to www.woodstove.com to view an online catalog or order online. If you don’t have access to a computer, you can call (800) 866-4344 to request a catalog or place an order.
