Fun And Easy Autumn Craft Ideas For Kids

Autumn is such a fun and beautiful time of year. The weather has cooled off. The leaves are turning different shades of gold, orange, red and brown. You can use this beautiful phase of nature to help keep your children occupied and help them see the wonder in the seasons. Look at the leaves and colors for some inspiration with some fun, autumn craft ideas that are listed below. I am sure once you get a few ideas from me you will begin to think of lots more fun crafts you and your children can have fun with.

1. Leaf Tracings

Fold some sheets of copy paper in half and crease in the center.

You can bind the book by punching two holes in the spine, threading yarn through the holes, and tying the ends.

Take your kids to the park.

Challenge them to find and trace as many unique leaves as possible.


2. Book of Leaves

Make a booklet, as described above.

This time, have your child search for odd-looking leaves to collect and paste them in their book.

Then give them an encyclopedia and let them research their leaves.

Have them write down the name of each leaf and some interesting facts about the leaf.


3. Leaf Characters

Copy and draw several different kinds of leaves onto construction paper.

Have your children cut the leaves out of the paper and decorate them with some glitter.

You can then have them paste leaves, twigs and paper together to give each leaf some arms, legs, a body!

They can make their own leaf characters!

When the paste has dried, they can can draw a face onto each leaf with markers.

Now you have some wonderful fall crafts to decorate your home with.


4. Leaf Collage

Have your children go out and get different kinds of leaves, and different colored ones,as they can find.

Have them paste their leaves onto a piece of paper or cardboard.

Then you can dab each page with a little paste here and there and crumble up your remaining leaves.

Drizzle the crumbs onto your pasted paper.

When the paste has dried you will see an amazing leaf collage to decorate your home, and to thrill your child's heart with their new found talent!
