The Hottest Thing in Summer Jewelry

(ARA) – In summer, everything is lighter -- clothes go from cashmere to cotton, boots get traded in for sandals, and chunky jewelry gives way to lighter, more feminine pieces.
That's especially true this year. The coolest trends going are delicate, long gold chains with linear, geometric shapes and gemstones dangling from the ends and “threader” earrings, dramatic danglers featuring gemstones and geometrics. “These styles are long, lean and feature lots of movement,” says Natalie Parman of Jewelry Television.

“Our buyers were in Italy recently, and just about every woman was wearing a variation on these standout styles,” she says. Parman notes that while fashion trends usually lag a year or so before they arrive in the United States from Europe, this one is so popular it's already hopped across continents.

Anyone who keeps tabs on celebrities will recognize this look. Actresses were showing off these trendsetting pieces at the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. “It's trendy, but it will transcend the seasons for at least the next few years,” says Parman.

This jewelry is sexy, feminine and stylish, and is a great complement to this summer's flirty fashions. The combination of a long, gold necklace with a summer dress is a hit day or night. Even a t-shirt and jeans can become a fashion statement with the right accessories. And there's no reason to stop at one necklace -- try layering two or even more for high impact. Both the necklaces and earrings can swing from fun to formal, making them a versatile addition to any wardrobe.

The metal of choice is gold, but that doesn't limit your color choices -- opt for white, yellow or the latest fashion must-have, rose gold. Parman notes that while gold prices have gone up substantially recently, that doesn't mean you have to go without. “Women have the choice to buy 10-, 14- or 18-karat gold, depending on their budget, and still get this season's most important look.” The higher the karat number, the higher the percentage of gold in your jewelry.

It also pays to shop around to make sure you're getting the best possible price. Online sources can provide good value and a wide range of choices. “When buying jewelry, you need to trust your jeweler,” says Parman. “At Jewelry Television, our volume buying ensures that we can offer customers the best possible price on the latest style."
