There is a great site out on the Worldwide Web you can find at www.freecycle.org.

It can help you to recycle your old stuff rather than just throw it out.

We all know to recycle our papers, cans and bottles, but did you think about recycling other things? Most people have not, so if you didn't your not alone.

Freecycle works both ways. You can check out what others are getting rid of. Who knows what treasures you may find.

Just think about all the stuff you have stored and just don't know what to do with. My sister changed her kitchen decor. She went from apples to roses, and down came tons of apple decorated items, including a clock.

She put it up on www.freecycle.org and her box of goodies was picked up the next day. She did the same thing with her aquarium set up. She had no place to store it, but did not want to throw it away.

Fish tanks are pretty expensive these days. The same day she listed it, a young boy called and said he would love it. The youngster and his Mom came and picked it up that very night.

Imagine how happy that boy was driving home with his new fish tank, stand, light and filter set up. Imagine how happy his mom was knowing she didn't have to spend over a hundred dollars to buy it for her son.

I know my sister was happy to get the empty tank and stand out of her living room. www.freecycle.org is a win-win situation for everyone who participates in it.

Next time you clean out your closet or bring home a new anything, see if the old one is in good shape, or check the clothes, if they are still okay to use put them up on Freecycle and see how quickly someone emails you to say they want it. Your goal of getting rid of the item is solved and someone else is happy to have it.

We live in such a throw away world that sometimes we forget that recycling doesn't only apply to plastics, metal and paper. I know I would rather give my old things away than just toss them in the garbage.

It leaves you with a good feeling when you make someone happy and you can rest your head easier at night knowing you have spared the landfills more fill.

We all need to continue to recycle as much as we can and do our part to help our environment while helping out others.
