If you are thinking about your next vacation, the Caribbean may be the place for you. There are so many islands to choose from. Among the most popular island vacation spots in the Caribbean are the Cayman Islands. The Caymans are a territory of the United Kingdom. If you want to scuba dive, the Caymans are one of the world's best underwater dive locations.

The Cayman Island group is made up of three islands. Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman are located in the western Caribbean. Lying about 150 miles from Cuba, and almost 500 miles from Miami, Florida, the islands of Little Cayman and Cayman Brac are sometimes called the Sister Islands. They are about 90 miles east of Grand Cayman Island, which is about 75 square miles.

Like many islands of the Caribbean, The Caymans, are made up of large coral heads. Many different species of exotic birds, fish and land animals are found only on the Caymans. Wild life found only on these islands include the Blue Iguana, which is on the endangered list, and The Grand Cayman Parrot and Cayman Brac Parrot.

Since tourism is the source for most of this island’s revenue the people there are glad to see you and will make your visit an enjoyable one. Because of the amazingly clear waters, and the Cayman Wall, you will find world class scuba diving. There are also tours to take you for a swim with the sting rays at Sting Ray City. This is one of the best attractions on the island. Swimming with the sting ray is certainly sure to make for a wonderful day, and a life long memory.

When your ready to get out of the water there are many favorite sites for you to check out. The black limestone fields, many hiking trails, lighthouses, and even museums are waiting on the Cayman Islands for you. There is even a butterfly house where you can see different species of butterfly and learn about their life cycle.

The Cayman Islands are also well known for being one of the world's leading offshore financial centers. You will be amazed at the number of banks on the island.

When you visit the Cayman Islands you will need to make sure you have the correct paperwork. You will need a passport to fly in and, depending on where your from, you may need to get a visa.

There is no camping at all on the islands. It is illegal. Many people who visit the Caymans are not aware of this, and if you get caught camping, you will go to jail. This is certainly a good thing to know, just in case the urge sets upon you while your enjoying the beautiful islands. With all the wonderful hotels on the island, camping is the last thing on my mind when I go there!

Visit the Cayman Islands, and like thousands of visitors before you, you will be glad you did. The islands are friendly, beautiful and inviting.
