(NAPSI)-If you think a day in the life of America's top dog is all catnaps and horseplay, you're barking up the wrong tree. That doesn't mean it's not fun, though.

A beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer named Carlee has been wearing her crown well-and she seems to be having a good time doing it. Carlee took Best In Show at this year's Westminster Kennel Club's Annual All Breed Dog Show and with it the title of "America's Dog" for the next year.

A Dog's Life

Carlee was whisked away on an all-encompassing media tour in New York the day after the show. She appeared on all three morning network talk shows and helped out with the "Top Ten List" on "Late Night with David Letterman." Carlee-whose registered name is Ch. Kan-Point's VJK Autumn Roses-has also received recognition in her home state of Colorado, with special proclamation in the state Senate and House, and a private audience with Governor Bill Owens. She'll have many more opportunities to show the world her special canine charisma throughout the year.

Other Westminster highlights:

• Sell Out Crowd-For the first time in its 129-year history, the Dog Show was completely sold out at Madison Square Garden. And as in previous years, millions more watched at home on USA Network.

• Dogs On The Web-Westminster's breed-judging highlights are available in streaming video at www.westminsterkennelclub.org. The site has had hits for more than 1.3 million streams, visitors from over 130 countries and nearly 15 million page views.

• New Look-Glamour Magazine did professional makeovers on five handlers at Westminster, resulting in a magazine photo feature and a piece on the Today Show.

• Contest Corner-More than 24,000 entries were received for a drawing for a trip to Westminister-won by Julian Pike of Savanna, Georgia.

• Worldwide Affair-Nearly 700 members of the press, representing 20 different countries and nearly 40 states covered the dog show.

The Westminster Kennel Club is America's oldest organization dedicated to the sport of purebred dogs. Established in 1877, Westminster's influence has been felt for more than a century through its famous all breed, benched dog show held every year at New York's Madison Square Garden. The show is America's second longest continuously held sporting event, behind only the Kentucky Derby.
