Your Pregnant Are You Getting Enough Sleep?

There is one thing that every woman who is pregnant has complained of, they are not getting enough sleep. Most are so tired, they thought they would have fallen asleep as soon as their head hit the pillow, but no. They don't understand why they cannot sleep, and don't know what to do about it. They toss and turn, and finally end up falling asleep sometimes hours after they have gone to bed. This is just so frustrating for you.

Why Can't I Fall Asleep?

One of the reasons you cannot get to sleep is because of the changes your body is going through. You probably are not getting as much exercise as you used to, and this will affect your sleep. Are you eating healthy? If your not it too can affect your sleep. How about this one, you just cannot get comfortable in your condition.

What Can I Do?

First, if you think it may be that your not getting enough exercise, get walking. It is easy to do, and you can find a partner to talk with while you walk. You can also use a Walkman and listen to music. Go out walking three or four times a week for twenty to thirty minutes at a time. This will help you sleep better, and is good for you. It will keep unwanted pounds off, and help to raise your energy levels. It will also keep your muscles in shape.

Think about what position you lay in when you go to bed. Do you sleep on your side, or your back? Take extra pillows to bed with you and try to prop up any area that bothers you. You should try to sleep on your left side, as this is a better position for you to lay in, but if you cant get comfortable there try your right. You can try sleeping on your back, and you can put pillows under your knees or feet. Keep trying with the pillows until you find the spot or spots that work for you.

Relax before you go to bed. You should try to de-stress, and cleanse your mind of worrisome thoughts. You can try a little meditation and breathing, you can also try a delightfully warm bath adding a favorite scented bubble bath or bath oil. If you don't have one, try honeysuckle or lavender, and lay back with your eyes closed for a while. You can ask your husband for a relaxing massage, or enjoy a nice cup of herbal tea or warm milk.

Sometimes reading a book helps people to fall asleep. Make sure it is a relaxing story, not a mystery. That will defeat the purpose.

I Am Still Not Able To Sleep!

Sometimes no matter what you do you will not get a good nights sleep. The farther along in your pregnancy you are it may get even more difficult. By the end of the third trimester you may not be able to find a comfortable position, even sitting. You may be able to grab a catnap during the day. If you can, than of course do it. Don't try to force yourself to keep awake. You and the baby need rest. So sleep whenever you can during the day.
