(NAPSI)-Today's most versatile home decor problem solver may be the basic cube. A variety of cube-based furnishing elements offers flexible decorating solutions for every area of the house or apartment.

"Today's consumers are more self-confident than ever before, with a keen sense of their individual needs," says designer Doug Krieger of Sauder. "Many want furniture options that allow them to create their own answers to unique decorating dilemmas."

Based on the infinitely adaptable shape of a cube, Sauder's recently introduced EZ Cube modular furniture system squares off to face a multitude of storage and decorating predicaments. The sturdy units can be stacked, paired or lined up in a variety of configurations limited only by the imagination, thanks to a choice of single cubes with or without doors, two-cube and four-cube "stackers" and corner units. In warm Caramel Birch or rich Ebony Ash finishes, these style-minded components can stand alone or combine to create the precise furniture design-from a wall-spanning media center to a compact corner storage system-needed for a particular space.

Krieger offers tips to help consumers think inside and outside the box:

The Demand For

Flexible Media Storage

"Consumers expect entertainment centers to pull double duty-holding everything from gaming systems to CD/DVDs, books or knicknacks."

A modular cube system makes it easy to create a highly individual, quick-change home media center. For example, two-cube and four-cube "stacker" units can be mixed with rounded corner pieces to create the appearance of one piece of furniture, with optional sleek metal-finished feet for a polished look. When interests change, the versatile pieces can be easily rearranged, to hold the latest additions to a music or movie collection or the latest must-have peripheral components for work and play. Cubes with doors are useful for stashing any "stuff" better hidden away than on display.

The Ongoing Need To Organize

"Organization is a perennial concern," says Krieger, "and solutions can often be found in overlooked areas." For instance, a narrow hallway can boast new clutter-busting potential with a slick wall-hugging arrangement of cubes with a place for everything in what was once wasted space.

"Rethink each room in terms of unused areas," says Krieger. That unused spot behind a living room sofa, for example, could be en-hanced by a well-proportioned, self-created furniture design. Cubes with doors can be mixed with open cubes and corner cubes to create storage in a stylish configuration scaled to the sofa.

The Challenge Of

Limited Space

"Take a second look at space-challenged rooms," advises Krieger. "A stack or row of compact cubes can transform the smallest available spot in the bathroom or kitchen into a gracious oasis of order for everything from bath towels and toiletries to wine bottles and cooking utensils," he says. A cube with doors helps keep personal or utilitarian items out of sight but close at hand.

"Even a crowded bedroom or family room usually has an unused corner," Krieger notes. Stack some corner units, and this space can be a compact, customized storage center.

EZ Cube is available at Target stores, as well as through www. target.com. Find other local retailers through the "Where to Buy" link at www.ezcube.info.
