Keeping Brain Strong “Secret Sauce” to Longevity? Boomer Web Site Has an Answer
As medical researchers uncover more details about the brain’s capabilities as we age, they’re finding that the human brain can stay in top shape well into a person’s 20s. It’s when people reach their late 20s when the brain can begin a gradual decline in “cognitive function” – the way it processes information and applies knowledge. Now researchers are finding ways to halt, and even reverse that decline, and a new Web site for the 50-plus crowd has found a way to make brain building fun.

Embracing Life in Difficult Times
It was in April of 2003 that I lost my husband, David. He was the love of my life and a devoted father. Since his passing, I've realized there are many ways to embrace life before and after the unthinkable happens. Preparing for death is not something we're instinctively ready to do, but every family faces loss.

Tips to Help You Lose The Blues and Be Happy
We all know that it takes more muscles to frown than to smile, but did you know that the mere act of smiling can make you feel better? According to a recent study by the World Values Survey in Britain, most Americans and Western Europeans are much happier than their counterparts in Eastern Europe and Russia. This happiness is derived from a combination of factors: personal and professional success, freedom of expression and strong self-esteem.

Learning The Secrets Of Our True Selves
For Dr. Will Miller, renowned psychotherapist and expert in bathroom behavior and the psychology (or, "loo-ology") behind it, taking a peek behind a closed bathroom door can be like taking a peek into the psyche. "The way an individual behaves and interacts in the bathroom is very revealing," says Miller. "These 'clues from the loo' say a lot about a person's life outside of the bathroom."

The Art of Thankfulness
With Thanksgiving approaching, I thought it would be especially appropriate to discuss a defining characteristic of successful people that I've met worldwide. I've found that successful and joyous people are usually very skilled at counting their blessings. They focus on what's right about their life instead of what's wrong. Why is this important?

The Big Key to Freedom
When our clients are exposed to our company, they are often impressed with how we really stress the concept of Freedom - and well they should be. Our central core value is Freedom, our web address is deliverfreedom.com, heck- it’s the name of our company! At the same time I see that the vast majority of individuals I meet do not have the kind of professional or personal Freedom they really desire and deserve. Do you? If you listen to our two-minute trainings (a practice I strongly encourage), you may have heard me discussing what I call the “keys to Freedom” over the past few months. Last month was about having the right opportunity (click here to listen to past month's training tips.) This month’s sound bite is about having or developing an effective system to unlock Freedom.

The Default Setting
In the coaching relationships I have with our clients, the major problem I see is that individuals end up in the same place - over and over and over again. They mean to save money and build wealth, only to end up (again) with “too much month at the end of the money.” They’ve lost the same 15 pounds 8 times in the last decade. They quit one job only to end up doing the exact same job with the exact same pay for a different company. They end a relationship and then start dating the same person with a different name. Sound familiar? Everyone has patterns and they are determined by what we refer to as the “default setting”.

How to Save Yourself from Negative Influences
Watching the news can be hazardous to your health. It's a fact, especially when you're watching events related to terrorism, kidnapping, murder, accidents, or calamities. These incidents make you worry and will leave you feeling weak and insecure. Imagine the uncomfortable feeling of becoming a victim someday. This will have a negative effect on your outlook in life. The Hidden Superpowers Of Your Mind
The mind is an infinite wonder. It has the fantastic ability to transmute your desires into their physical counterparts. These are just plain pills that have no healing capabilities. So how did they get well?

Bad Luck ... Or Blessing In Disguise?
There was a woman who was in such a hurry to go to the airport. She told the cab driver to step on it. She was so engrossed with her own thoughts that she was not aware they were going on a different route. Suddenly, a man went inside the cab and took her handbag where she placed her visa, passport, and all her money for the trip. The driver, who was in cahoots with the robber, left her in the middle of that dark street. She cursed the world for being so mean to her, and she kept on thinking how unlucky she was to be in that situation.

A Leadership Lesson: Two Guys With Guns
Raymond Chandler author of the famous Philip Marlowe detective stories advised writers suffering from writers' block: "Whenever you get stuck, have two guys walk through the door with guns." Leadership has its own "leader's block." All leaders now and then get a good dose of it. You're sailing along in your job getting the results you want when, for whatever reason or for no reason you can discern, you come to a screeching halt and can't go any farther. What Is Front Porch Attitude?
What is front porch attitude? Well, it's not an easy thing to explain, but I'll see if I can try to explain it by telling you a story. Before my wife and I moved from Texas to Oregon, we owned a beautiful house that was built in the early 1900s. As was common in those early days, our house had a large L-shaped font porch. The sides of this porch came up about 3 feet and it had screening up to the roof. It had beautiful banisters and it was totally enclosed.

Ahhh, the American Dream. You're sitting by the beautiful ocean at Kaanapali Beach on Maui basking in the warm rays of the dying sun as it sets into the horizon. It's not just the sun that warms your body. You also have that warm, fuzzy feeling that comes just from knowing that thousands of dollars are pouring into your very large bank account from your fully-automated home based business. Life is good...or is it? Life IS good, but that's not the reason why! What is it that makes life so good? Is it wealth? Nope! Some of the wealthiest people in the world live absolutely miserable lives. The suicide rate among wealthy people is very high. Is it Love and marriage?

How to Deal with Shyness
Although shyness can be overcome, there is a fair chance that certain aspects of your shyness will remain a part of you for life. This is not something to worry about for there are many ways to deal with shyness. Here are a few tips to keep in mind: 1. Get to know yourself well. If you consider yourself shy, you must learn to identify your strengths and weaknesses. While this is good advice for anyone, shy people must especially make full use of their strengths to avoid unnecessary vulnerability in difficult situations.

Heal Your Child Within
Inner Child Exercise The Three Within Every human has three Archetypal personalities within the mind. The Parent-The Adult and The Child. The Parent is the part of us that tells us what we should and should not do. This is the part that scolds or rewards us The Adult is the mature rational mind that can communicate on a calm, logical level. The child is the part of us that takes risks, tries new things and is also the part of us that acts up. Understanding these three distinct parts of our personalities can help tremendously when trying to understand and deal with ourselves and others. We can begin to recognize which one we are relating to and therefore respond to.

To Stress or Not to Stress?
Today it seems that no matter who we are or what we do, we have more stress in our lives than our parents or grandparents did. There are many factors and demands that cause stress in our lives: things such as demanding careers, relationship conflicts, financial worries, health concerns, parenting challenges, legal issues, fear of the unknown and so many others. If that were not enough, the stress and worries these situations cause further diminish our ability to function well and to be healthy. In fact, stress can cause depression, fatigue, irritability, withdrawal, insomnia, appetite changes, head aches, lower sex drive and many other ailments and diseases.

Picture Yourself a Winner
In the work place, the amount of good things that happen to a person during the day far out number the amount of bad things that happen, so why do we spend so much time stressing over the bad things when we should be smiling about the good things. One reason being, when something bad happens, such as being berated by a customer, it shakes us up a little bit, maybe our pride has been touched up a little. It plays on our mind like a disease, and you can’t help but think about it, and what you could have done differently to avoid the situation.

7 Tips To Recapture Time
Time management is a universal concern and taking the necessary steps to conquer the issue is often avoided. But since the only way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time, begin today to win time back into your service - it's been your enemy long enough! 1. Keep a running To Do list. This yields immediate results. Use your list to continually reassess your changing priorities, to enable you to remain fluid in the face of a day that seems to morph before your very eyes! The idea is to empty your mind of the daily details and free it for the more valuable creative opportunities.

Goal Setting - Get Exactly What You Want!
I am writing you from the quaint sea town of New Bern, NC where my wife and I are catching some much needed R&R.
Lately many of our students have been telling us that their biggest goal is to leave their current 9 to 5 J-O-B and start investing in real estate full time. They no longer want to be tied down by corporate rules and structure. While I was on this trip I realized that if my wife had not left her job last week, we could not be here right now. She simply would not have been able to take time off. So, how was she able to retire at 24? The answer is quite simple…

Activate Your Dream Power
Let’s have a look at a simple technique that will help you relax your mind and take more control over your ideals and goals. This technique can be used over and over, in most situations, and consists of two distinct phrases. 1. Decide on an aspect related to your life that you have been thinking of improving. Focus on just one specific element. 2. Project yourself as already having achieved your goal. This can be done using an “I am” statement – if you want to loose weight you might say “I am fit and feeling good in my body”.

How Reiki Concentration can Fulfill Your Desires
Quote: "It is a spiritual law that the desire to do necessarily implies the ability to do." You have all read of "Aladdin's Lamp," which accomplished such wonderful things. This, of course, is only a fairy tale, but it illustrates the fact that man has within him The Power, if he is Able to use it, to gratify his every wish. If you are unable to satisfy your deepest longings it is time you learned how to use your God-given powers. You will soon be conscious that you have latent powers within capable when once developed of revealing to you priceless knowledge and unlimited possibilities of success.

Tapping Primal Life Force
When the residents of the Scottish spiritual community of Findhorn first encountered Pan in the forest, Pan asked them to convey a message from the Beings of Nature to the rest of humanity. Pan said: “Tell them, ‘We never left—you did.’” The colorful toucans squawked from within their tiny cage: “Why would any free spirit ever confine another free being?” The incarceration had rendered the once vibrant birds withdrawn and lifeless captives.

Plants Have Souls - And Gifts for Humans
Plants are intelligent forms of life who are capable of intention, preference, and a will to survive, thrive and interact. Scientific research indicates that plants communicate with insects, animals, human beings and other plants in order to keep themselves alive and safe. Evidence also reveals that plants are telling us how to achieve health and wholeness for humanity and the earth herself. Plants Are Just Like People In research which spans more than 100 years, scientists have been documenting botanical adaptability and the amazing similarities that plants have with animals and people. Studies indicate that what metaphysicians, psychics, shaman, tribal people and sensitives worldwide have been saying about the plant kingdom for millennia is true: plants are intelligent beings who can communicate with us, and, we can communicate with them.

Transform Your Life Through a Vision Quest
Did you know that throughout history people have gone into Nature seeking profound spiritual revelations, dramatic physical healings and liberating emotional breakthroughs? Why? Because the dynamics of Nature naturally break you out of habitual mental ruts to generate fresh, imaginative approaches and make new, inspired life choices. In the quiet, empty, ageless spaces of remote canyons, you can often get clearer answers to your spiritual or practical questions than through traditional sitting meditation. For thousands of years, people have used the vision quest as an active, moving meditation through which the soul gives guidance using the mirror of the external, physical world.

Who's the You Running Your Life? Get Drama and Trauma Out of Your Karma
You finally make a friend or get a hot date with someone you're attracted to-then blow it by acting aloof or not being yourself. Have you ever had the experience of deciding to take a certain action, but end up doing something quite different? Crazy! Why do we do that? Often our actions are being run by decisions we made as a kid. Decisions that went on automatic, underground, behind-the-scenes, and now, affect us unconsciously. Decisions that are now controlling our actions in the present moment without us being aware of them. You land an exciting job-then blow it by "copping an attitude" with the boss or customers.

Motivation To Change, Why Is It So Hard?
We encounter constant changes throughout our life; it could be educational, health, relationships or financial, and of course with oneself. Maintaining or increasing one’s sense of self-worth and happiness are strong incentives for these changes. Too often trials and errors affect our self-esteem and therefore hinder true engagement in learning and changing. It’s very comforting to have a routine, and very frightening to go forward to the unknown. Its takes courage and determination. This is nothing new. You have done it before, perhaps not deliberately but you have gone through many changes during your life.

Got Goals? Did You Reach Them?
Most of us have goals. Big ones, small ones. But not always do we follow through with them and that...hum…could be dangerous. You see, within a lifetime our goals may change a little or dramatically, which is fine. The problem is when you have definite goals but can't follow through with them. It's crushing. It makes you feel miserable. As if you can't accomplish anything properly. You start something but it stays unfinished. That’s the deception we want to stay away from. It is a bad bad habit!

Discovering Your Strengths
Many people never fully utilize their natural gifts because they don't find the proper way to express them in the world, or perhaps they don't even recognize the talents they have. Realized or not, we all have natural talents that we feel passionate about. These talents may feel so natural that you don't even realize how they make you unique and special. Your combined unique talents and capabilities create an experience for others that they will not be able to find anywhere else.

I just finished reading an excellent book called "Now, Discover Your Strengths," by Marcus Buckingham and Donald Clifton. The authors define talents in a different way than I had thought of them before. Talent is defined as any recurring pattern of thought, feeling or behavior that can be productively applied. Here are some examples of talent as they define it: inquisitive, charming, persistent, responsible, dyslexic. All of these qualities can be productively applied.

A Few Simple Things You Must Do If You Want To Be Wealthy
Making money is easy when you move to cause rather than living out effects. Let me draw a simple analogy to clarify my point. Imagine standing before a huge waterfall. You’re thirsty and the water is fresh, clean, and pure. You can take as much as you like. How much can you take home with you? It all depends on the size of your container. You can take a thimble, a small cup, a gallon bucket, a barrel, or even a tank truck. Similarly, the amount of money in the world is like this fountain of abundance. Trillions of dollars circulate around the world. The fountain is abundant.

A Simple Cure For Anxiety And Depression
Our innate desire is to be happy, and when we move away from it, we experience fear. This fear is actually millions of years old, for it arises from the biological programming of our species. While we may not have to contend with a sabre-toothed tiger on any given day, we still use those very reactions to deal with events looming ahead. We think, “Will I be fired for making that mistake at work?” or “Will I be able to meet the mortgage after I fix the car?” or “Will my health continue to decline?” or “Will my relationship fall apart after that argument we just fell into?”

Why Failure is Good for You
How do you view failure? Do you see it as something negative that you don't want to be associated with or do you see it as something positive? Most people in the world don't like failure. Fear of failure is the main reason why more than 80% of people in the world are not prepared to change their circumstances. Why do people fear failure so much? The reason for this is because people don't understand the dynamics involved in success and failure.

The Accidental Leader
It was never planned, it just happened. After years of enjoying what you do, and consequently doing quite well, your efforts and results have been recognised by management. They asked you to lead a small group and coach up a few other staff to work with you and 'learn from the master'. While work was still quite enjoyable and some people blossomed under you, others didn't. You were also unaware that your personal output was starting to suffer.

Relax and Renew with Tea
In an era when responsibilities and obligations far outnumber hours in the day, it’s no wonder many diseases are linked to stress. In fact, according to the American Psychological Association, 43 percent of adults suffer adverse health affects from stress. Clearly, some forms of stress are essential -- to win races, meet deadlines or increase productivity -- but too much stress can cause a very different response. The key is finding harmony, like strings on a guitar. Wound too tightly, the strings will break. Strung too loosely, they’re off-key. Just the right amount of tension, however, creates beautiful music.
The American Academy of Family Physicians estimates that 75 to 90 percent of all visits to family physicians are for stress-related problems. But stress is manageable. Currently, 64 percent of Americans say they are taking steps to reduce the level of stress in their lives.
