Parenting A Gifted Child
When it comes parenting a gifted child, there are a number of considerations. Probably the most common, is the fact that, as a parent you just are uncertain as to how to respond to the gifted child’s unique development and personality traits. This also entails a difficulty in your expectations of the child. Also, one of the unique difficulties in parenting a gifted child stems from the fact that many times, although the child is gifted with advanced cognitive abilities, is still quite on level par with other children of their age in the areas of emotional and physical development. Greater challenges can even arise if you have a gifted child in a family with more than one child. But aside, from all the challenges, parenting a gifted child can be extremely rewarding and joyful because it is truly a very unique experience.

Adoption From a Far Away Land
Well, I should say, two sons to help in assisting with schooling, donating time and being generally available. Sadly being the only male role figure in these young lives to offer any kind of love. I write from Arusha in Northern Tanzania. I work with street children and orphaned children within our community. Every day someone dies here – last week the neighbor next to the community centre died from HIV/AIDS, she contracted this from her husband – her five-year-old daughter will be following the mother soon. I have been here for five years now and cannot ever see myself leaving.

Playing Safe - Choosing Environmentally Friendly Toys
Do you really want your child to enjoy playing with a toy that was made on the other side of the world by people who are no more than children themselves, and paid 30 cents an hour? That's a paltry sum that can barely sustain them, yet all too often when you buy your child toys, you're inadvertently supporting this what's nothing more than sheer exploitation. I'm not suggesting that anybody who does this is uncaring and selfish—when we buy these toys it's usually because we don't know any better.

As Deployments Continue, Military Families Find Child Care Support In Their Own Neighborhoods
Child care is one of the leading concerns and expenses for a majority of families with young children. The need for affordable child care is even greater for America's military families facing deployment, who experience the overnight loss of a spouse's parental support. Many military families, particularly Guard and Reserve, live too far from a military installation for on-base care to be an option. As a result, many of these families look to local providers within their civilian communities for child care.
