(NAPS)-If you're not yet familiar with the term "boho," you may want to study up on some school-year fashion.

Boho is a look that includes tiered skirts paired with cropped crochet sweaters and other bohemian-inspired pieces. Along with preppy-chic looks, denim styles and new types of embellishments, boho was named one of the most wanted school fashions in a recent survey. Here's a closer look at this year's fashions:

Denim Makes The Grade

Thirty-five percent of teens surveyed favored distressed jeans with embellishments such as rhinestone or embroidery detailing. Jeans and jean jackets come in a wide variety of fits and shapes. Look for details all over jeans. Students pair embellished denim (rhinestones, studs, embroidery, beading and more) with polo shirts, camisole tops, cropped velvet jackets or sweaters.

Be Wise, Accessorize

Accessories such as metallic and western belts-think big buckles, studs and turquoise embellishments. Cowboy boots, clogs and a wide variety of shoes-including high-heel menswear looks-are popular. Must-have handbags feature fur and faux fur and details such as metallic sheens, gold chains and charms, ribbons and studs.

Bling Is The Thing

The "bling" look comes into play with noticeable wardrobe pieces such as shiny camisoles (jewel necks, eveningwear satins) and rhinestones on virtually everything (pants, jackets, skirts, bags).

Guys Opt For Comfort

Teenage boys surveyed were looking for fashionable comfort. One of their favorite items was the zip-front track jacket, worn with jeans. They also favored layering options, long- and short-sleeve vintage tee shirts or waffle thermals. Guys' jeans come in a wide variety of washes including dark, sandblasted and "dirty." For those who want the urban look, baggier jeans sport pockets down the leg, as well as embroidery, screen prints and hologram details.

Smart Shopping

Parents may be happy to hear that keeping up with today's fashion doesn't have to break the bank. Parents and children can find designer labels at off-price stores such as T.J. Maxx. The store features the latest designers at well below retail prices. The stores can be a great way to update wardrobes while staying within budget.
