(NAPSI)-Giving your loved ones what they really want this holiday season may be easier than you realize. A recent report from the Center for the New American Dream revealed that 87 percent of Americans believe the holidays should be more about family and caring for others rather than giving and receiving gifts. Furthermore, more than three in four Americans wish December holidays were less materialistic.

This holiday season you can use these novel ideas to help your family save and create holiday memories:

Preserve The Priceless

• Don't trash old decorations. Refresh them with paint, ribbon and other embellishments.

• Create a scrapbook or photo album for every celebration. Each page can capture a treasured moment and the excitement of the holidays to share with others.

• Save a broken heirloom. Instant Krazy Glue Advanced Formula with precision tip can delicately fix just about any holiday keepsake.

• Restore vintage photography. Take that picture of grandma and grandpa decorating their first tree together and make it digital. Once you restore color and saturation, the picture could make a great gift.

Make New Memories

• Invest in an inexpensive digital camera. They're great for holiday gatherings and events and make photo storage easy. Share event photos with your family. There are even services that let you make great gifts by putting the pictures on mugs, calendars and jigsaw puzzles.

• Create a special family recipe. It could start a new tradition you can enjoy on holidays to come.

• Plan an event. Instead of giving a material gift, take family members or loved ones to a concert or museum that they'll remember for years to come.

• Take family tradition to a vote. Pick three holiday activities and let family members cast a vote for their favorite. The winning activity can become a family tradition.
