(NAPSI)-Families today are busier than ever, juggling work and school commitments, afternoon and evening activities and travel. So when a parent discovers their child is falling behind or not being challenged enough in school, they often seek out a tutoring program that fits both the child's needs and their family's busy schedule.

Now parents have more options than ever before including online tutoring. Research shows that 75 percent of parents believe the Internet is a great place for children to explore and learn, and technological advances enable families and students to have access to educational products more easily and conveniently.

Sylvan Online™, from the same company that runs Sylvan Learning Centers, is the first to offer live online tutoring. Using the same proven methods that are so effective in the centers, Sylvan Online™ offers individualized tutoring that helps children build skills and increase their confidence.

"My daughter wanted to hone her math skills before she started at a private preparatory high school this coming fall," says Cathy Sewell, mother of a Sylvan Online student. "The closest Sylvan Learning Center is a 30-minute drive away, and since I work, we knew it would sometimes be challenging to get her there. With Sylvan Online, she can receive her lessons at home when it is most convenient for her."

"As parents and children continue to enjoy increasing access to computers and the Internet, the demand for high-quality online learning programs-combined with parents' demand for increased convenience-will fuel the growth in online tutoring," explains Richard E. Bavaria, Ph.D., vice president of education for Sylvan Learning Center. "Sylvan Online provides parents with a unique learning opportunity while retaining the quality instruction to specifically identify and address a student's skill gaps and learning needs."

Sylvan Online can be used anywhere a PC with Internet access is available, using online technology that is simple and enjoyable for today's computer-savvy students. Students can receive their instruction online, in a Sylvan Learning Center, or a combination of both.

"Tutoring is fun for my daughter. She enjoys her lessons and being online and her confidence and self-esteem are so much higher," continues Sewell.
