(NUI) - Since many of us remain indoors during the winter months, it's the perfect time to dust off those home repair projects that have been neglected. But, before you call a repairman, consider that you can do many common home repairs yourself.

When it comes to home improvement, do-it-yourself is quickly becoming do-it-herself. More and more women are realizing that this saves time and money. It can enhance your home while also providing a lot of fun.

To enable women to tackle common home repair projects themselves with confidence and success, I have created a line of home improvement products especially for them.

Ergonomically designed for women, the Barbara K tools fit smaller hands and boast spring-assist technology to accommodate a woman's grip. Each tool kit includes a "how-to" booklet with step-by-step instructions.

Here is just one of the many home repairs you can do yourself this winter by using the Barbara K tool kit.

Replacing a showerhead: An old showerhead can be

replaced effortlessly and can transform the look and feel of your bathroom. For this project, you should purchase a new showerhead and thread sealant, such as Teflon tape, at your hardware store.

Time: about 15 minutes.

Tools: adjustable wrench, new showerhead, thread sealant tape, rag.

1. Remove the old showerhead. While removing the old showerhead, wrap the showerhead stem with a piece of cloth or a rag to protect the finish. Using a wrench, twist off the old showerhead while holding the shower stem.

2. Prepare for the new showerhead. Wrap the threads at the end of the pipe stem two or three times with thread sealant tape.

3. Install the new showerhead. Use a cloth to protect the showerhead fitting under the wrench. Screw on the new showerhead clockwise until tight. Stand back, turn on the water, test for leaks, and you're finished.
