(NAPSI)-When a major anniversary rolls around, you can rise to the occasion with an important present made of precious Platinum.

Whether it's your first anniversary or your 30th, few things say "I love you" like Platinum jewelry.

"Platinum is the metal of choice for couples celebrating their anniversaries," says jewelry and fashion expert Michael O'Connor. "Platinum's rare and eternal qualities are symbolic of people's lifetime commitment to each other."

Here are some of O'Connor's suggestions for marking your own big event:

First Anniversary. You've made it farther than a lot of celebs, so celebrate with a pair of very hot Platinum and iodite bead earrings by Christian Tse. For the woman who prefers the elegance of simplicity, consider Platinum and diamond stud earrings. And for a more personalized gift, there's Takohl's Platinum Treasure rings, which split open into two sections-making them perfect for engraving your wedding date or some other special note inside.

Fifth Anniversary. Something made of wood may be the traditional gift, but most women would prefer a delicate Platinum and opal or moonstone pendant necklace by Suna Bros., Inc. or Tacori. These gorgeous pendants come in various geometric shapes and can quickly transition from day to evening.

Tenth Anniversary. With a milestone like this one, it's time to purchase something classic like a Platinum three-stone, right-hand ring by Kirk Kara. For the fashionista, try Platinum baubles garnished with pink or yellow diamonds or rubies or sapphires. For gentlemen, Platinum cufflinks by Mark Schneider or a watch from Chris Aire work for office or evening wear.

Twentieth Anniversary. Show all those friends who said it wouldn't last a thing or two by giving her a pair of Platinum and coral drop earrings by Erica Courtney, a layered necklace by Cathy Waterman or a set of Platinum and black Tahitian pearl hairpins by Etienne Perret.

Twenty-fifth Anniversary. The kids are out of the house-if you're lucky-so it's time to add a special romantic touch. Consider a one-of-a-kind vintage Platinum and ruby brooch by Sheila Goldfinger. For the woman who prefers vibrant colors, consider a Platinum and yellow or pink diamond necklace by Beaudry, with the diamonds set in the shape of a heart. For him, consider a Platinum lapel pin by Neil Lane to accentuate formal attire and spark conversation.
