In spite of today’s techno modern society of Nobel Prizes given to great minds for incredible breakthroughs, many diseases without a hope for cure continue to kill and maim, making even children endure untold pain and suffering.
Mental, physical and emotional illnesses continue to afflict diseases and conditions on millions of people all over the world.
Alternative, noninvasive medicines have provided some relief to those who have had the willingness and faith to use them.
Reiki is one such discipline that has given hope with its healing properties, using universal life energy.
The underlying philosophy of Reiki stems from the belief that every living thing, human, animal or plant possesses universal life energy.
This energy has the capacity to maintain life healthy and even bestow longevity, when harnessed and channeled properly by the individual. Treatment with Reiki does not involve medicines or machines.
Reiki is a simple process, involving the practitioner or master, laying hands on a recipient, channeling healing energy to the recipient and balancing the recipient’s energy levels. On restoring the energy balance, the recipient experiences rejuvenation, relaxation and in many cases is healed from existing diseases and illnesses.
Reiki has no religious connections nor is it a religious ritual. Several scientific associations and some medical professionals have recognized the benefits of Reiki as a complement to conventional clinical treatments.
With Reiki, when universal life energy is channeled to a patient with serious ailments, the patient becomes more responsive to the therapy and medication. Serious studies have shown Reiki to effectively optimize medicational effect on patients, though it is still unknown whether the positive benefits were due to the real power of Reiki’s healing energy or the effect was placebo.
All Reiki practitioners and receivers must be ‘attuned’ by a Reiki master to the life force energy present in all life, though humans especially are unconscious of its presence and of course to control it.
Certified Reiki masters perform the attunement over several sessions. Anyone attuned, can use and give energy to anyone, anywhere and at anytime. Reiki initiations are believed to last through eternity. Remember that Reiki masters too were ordinary people who believed and received attunements themselves.
Reiki studies depend on the master and attunements can take anything from a day of intensive studies to a two week session. Three levels are given as Reiki I, Reiki II and Reiki III. The levels follow each other, the last being the Reiki master level. Right from level I, the student can use Reiki to heal. The main requirement in Reiki for it to work is to be willing and submissive to the energy and believe that it will heal and harmonize.
Reiki as such has proved to be a powerful therapy for all ailments, whether physical, emotional, mental or spiritual. It has existed as Reiki for more than a hundred years, though the practices have thousands of years of antiquity.
