(NUI) - ACNielsen U.S. recently reported that nearly two-thirds of all heads of households are constantly looking for faster ways to do household chores.

In today's busy world of hectic schedules and time-consuming obligations, frequent cleaning can be a burden and oftentimes may be overlooked. The occasional neglect of household chores is a fact of life, but if left unattended too long, it can lead to a breeding ground of dust mites, bacteria, pollen, pet dander, viruses and more.

Although you will never be able to eliminate cleaning altogether, you can greatly reduce your time spent cleaning through the use of a whole-house air cleaner. Mounted on the heating and cooling system, a whole-house air cleaner is one of the most effective ways homeowners can continuously filter particles out of the air and improve overall indoor air quality throughout the entire house.

A leading favorite on the market is Aprilaire's electronic air cleaner, the Model 5000. In laboratory tests, the Model 5000 eliminated 99.9 percent of airborne bacteria, pollen, fungi and pet dander; 98 percent of respirable dust and 80 percent of virus-sized particles. And it cleans 100 percent of the air circulating through the home. No other whole-house air cleaner can achieve these levels of efficiency. Regular furnace filters, which allow many large particles to slip through, don't stack up.

How do cleaners like this work? Particles entering the air cleaner pass through a control electrode, which charges the particles and then permanently traps them in a grounded microfiber filter. This patented design allows for complete silent operation.

The key to effectively using a whole-house air cleaner is keeping the heating and cooling system set on "continuous fan." This setting allows airborne particles to constantly be removed from the airstream. This removal is especially important when cleaning the home as this is when large amounts of dust are stirred up. If these particles are not removed from the air, they will only continue to accumulate.

With the reduction of these particles in the air, your home has much less dust, and cleaning can be done less frequently with less effort. In addition, your family's immune system will have less contaminants, allergens and pet dander to fight.
