(NAPSI)-Looking for a little adventure this weekend but don't have time to travel? The Internet is a great place to find fun family getaways in the outdoors. A quick Web search can help you find places to go you may not even know existed, yet they are only a short drive from your front door.

The nonprofit Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation (RBFF) has developed a Web site that is the most comprehensive single source of boating and fishing information on the Internet. According to the RBFF, the public service site includes data on thousands of bodies of water in the U.S., and ties in information from state and local fish and wildlife agencies.

The noncommercial site-takemefishing.org-is easy to navigate and has plenty of useful information for water lovers. You can search at the state and local levels, even down to a specific body of water. The site offers information on where and when to go, local access points upon arrival and what to bring, as well as information on how to be safe in the outdoors.

"We wanted to develop a national resource that lets people quickly find what they're looking for in their own communities, as well as all across the U.S.," says Bruce Matthews, president of RBFF. "There's no other single Internet site that captures this kind of information in this much detail."

Here are some of the ways you can use takemefishing.org:

• Search by state, town and zip code to locate and link to a map of a specific body of water

• Locate convenient access facilities such as campgrounds, launch ramps, marinas and fishing piers

• Find the closest services including charter operators, boat sales and rentals, fishing retailers, and bait and tackle shops

• Get a wealth of helpful information, like how to choose the right boat, where to take boating safety courses, and links to local fishing organizations

• Browse feature stories and profiles of real-world anglers and boaters, which are updated regularly to give plenty of new ideas.

By tapping into public service Web sites like takemefishing.org, you can learn about many outdoor activities that offer an escape from your usual routine and give you, your family and friends hours of natural enjoyment and memories that will last a lifetime.
