(NC)-Are you going on a vacation for some rest and relaxation? Do you think you've remembered everything? Here's a checklist to make sure that your holiday is a happy one:

o Thoroughly research and plan your trip.

o Book your flights, make accommodation reservations, and make sure you have travel and health insurance.

o Talk to your doctor about which vaccinations are recommended for your vacation destination. Many countries, including popular ones like Mexico and the Caribbean, can put travellers at risk for vaccine-preventable diseases like Hepatitis A and B.

o Make sure that your passport is valid. If you don't have a passport, or yours is expiring within 6 months, apply for a new one. Keep a photocopy of your passport in a safe place. If yours is lost, you'll speed up the recovery process by having a copy with you.

o Begin the packing process early and check the local weather to make sure you'll be dressed appropriately. Don't forget a small first aid kit with all the essentials.

o Make arrangements with family members or friends to pick up your mail, and to take care of plants or pets. Leave emergency contact information and details where you can be reached.

o Buy local currency and traveller's cheques. By bringing a combination of the two, you ensure you are protected in the event of unexpected circumstances.

o Do a last minute check of your luggage to ensure that you don't forget anything.

Have a safe trip!
