Many conventional medical practitioners have realized that physical healing must be accompanied by mental and spiritual healing. Reiki is a noninvasive, alternative treatment, which focuses on channeling energy for the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of a patient.
In Reiki, energy is transferred to the patient in order to balance the patient’s own energy imbalance, resulting in deep relaxation, clearing away of harmful toxins and destroying energy blockages, leading to overall wellbeing and healing of illnesses.
Reiki has been linked to yoga as both disciplines involve certain positions during classes and sessions. Reiki positions have been created in order to channel energy from the practitioner to the recipient.
In Reiki, the main instruments for passing on the energy are the hands. When the hands are placed over certain areas of the body, healing is achieved by the transfer of potent, healing and balancing energy from the practitioner to the recipient. Here are some common positions for common problems.
HEAD
Depending on the disease or aliment, the hands are placed in different positions on the head and head area. For patients with eye ailments, colds, fevers, fatigue and sinusitis, the palms of the practitioner are placed covering the eyes with the fingertips over the cheeks and the thumbs, placed along the bridge of the nose. For patients with ear problems, the hands must be positioned over the ears, covering the ears and with the fingertips extended towards the neck from the jaws.
CHEST
For reinforcing the lymphatic and immune system, the hands are placed around the chest area. A common chest position is placing one hand across the thymus, at the base of the neck, with the other hand placed between the breasts, forming a 90 degree angle.
ABDOMEN
This position treats indigestion, most digestive ailments and nausea, in addition to clearing away anxiety, tension, stress and worry induced by imbalances within the digestive system. The hands are placed on either side of the naval across the stomach area, fingers pointing towards the naval, with the base of the palms towards the sides.
BACK
This position impacts the heart, intestines and some of the shoulder muscles. It also gives relief from headaches, muscular tension and other connected problems. The practitioner places the hands over either shoulder with the fingers pointing towards the chest.
Reiki has many more positions - however, these are just a few general positions for common health issues. Reiki practitioners often practice auto Reiki by performing Reiki on themselves.
These techniques can be self-administered or executed on patients, including animals. A Reiki practitioner or master can counsel the patient on the best and most effective technique for particular complaints, ailments and diseases.
Reiki has changed the life of so many people, from all walks of life all over the world. Indeed the power of Reiki is in the palm of the hand of each and every individual. All one needs is the willingness to try out this absolutely noninvasive, alternative therapy for better health and a better lifestyle.
