(NUI) - Dining out is a great way to get together with family and friends. But folks who want to be able to enjoy their controlled carbohydrate lifestyle in their favorite restaurants feel that finding menu items that are truly "low carbohydrate" is difficult and confusing.

Fortunately, for the millions of Americans who follow the Atkins Nutritional Approach, eating a satisfying and delicious meal without excessive carbohydrates has just gotten easier. New partnerships forged by Atkins Nutritionals Inc. with T.G.I. Friday's and Subway Restaurants allow people who have chosen to follow the Atkins Nutritional Approach to benefit from the convenience and quality of several great low carbohydrate options.

For example, Subway Restaurants are now offering a new line of low carbohydrate, Atkins-friendly wraps. With two great choices - the Turkey and Bacon Melt Wrap and the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap - people craving a fast and delicious meal can now get exactly that.

"We do not lend the Atkins name lightly," said Matt Wiant, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Atkins Nutritionals.

"Just as Atkins is dedicated to the science of a controlled

carbohydrate lifestyle, T.G.I. Friday's and Subway Restaurants have proven their dedication to the health and needs of their customers. As partners, we are making it easier for Americans to maintain their controlled carbohydrate goals, while enjoying the convenience and familiarity of dining at a favorite restaurant."

Although many "mom and pop" style eateries, diners and upscale restaurants are including low carbohydrate meal choices in their menus, these establishments are not endorsed and approved by Atkins.

Atkins offers a free newsletter with product updates, low carbohydrate tips and recipes. For great low carbohydrate recipes, look for "Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution" (Avon; Quill) and "Atkins for Life" (St. Martin's Press) or visit www.atkins.com.
