(NAPSI)-A new video game is taking on an unlikely theme with spirited results.

Experts have found that, although boys tend to be much more avid gamers, girls are truly interested in playing video games; they just don't want to play the same games their brothers do.

And thanks to the popularity of the Nintendo Wii and DS gaming systems, video game designers are increasingly focusing on girls, ages 6 to 16. The Wii has been the video game console of choice for this expanded audience, using a unique motion-based controller that lets players replicate everyday movements such as swinging a tennis racquet--or shaking a pom-pom.

And while video games have always focused on diverse subject matter, one new title for the Wii takes the hobby in an entirely new direction--competitive cheerleading.

"We Cheer" from Namco Bandai may be a new release, but it has so much polish and undeniably fun content that you might think it's been around for years. Players start off by creating their own cheerleader, picking their outfit, hairstyle and more. They can then take on a variety of challenges to lead their squad to victory in a variety of tournaments.

Using the Wii's motion controls, the game is easy and fun to play. Just move your arms to the motions indicated on the screen to the beat of the music. The game features a soundtrack of 25 real-world songs from hit artists like Hilary Duff and Natasha Bedingfield, which makes it easy to get into the fun as you learn to play. Each new song is progressively more difficult, culminating in a very fun and rewarding championship tournament.

The game is great to enjoy alone, but features multiplayer modes that are incredibly engrossing. Up to four people can play together at the same time, completing routines together and trying to see who can get the highest score. It's a great game for mothers and daughters, current and former cheerleaders and anyone who loves to dance along to music. The cheerleading theme is fresh, the look is hip, and the play experience is one-of-a-kind fun that anyone can enjoy.
