Are you letting your kids have a Christmas Party? It is so much fun to let children entertain during the holidays.
Planning is one of the most important parts of any party, and you should let your children help you with the plans, and share part of the work. It could become a yearly tradition for them. It will always be a wonderful memory for them too.
Preparing For The Christmas Party.
Four of the most important things when planning a party are:
When?
Where?
Who?
What?
Sit down with your children and decide when to have your party. A week or two before Christmas would be a good time. Check your family schedule and see what works for everyone.
At the same time you can decide where to have your party. In the kitchen and living room is just fine, or you may have a finished basement or a den. Anywhere you have the space will be just fine.
You can also plan the guest list at this time. Give each child the number of children they can each invite, and let them write down the names.
Decide your menu. Is it going to be an afternoon party? If so snacks, and dessert would be good. If it is in the evening, you may want to serve some sandwiches, or have buffet style dinner.
At the next Party meeting you can supply the kids with paper, stickers, stamps, markers, crayons, and let them make invitations for their guests.
If your party is going to be in the same room as your Christmas tree, you've already got most of the decorations already. If its not, you may want to get a small tree and decorate it. There are many great themes to use at Christmas.
You can decorate with snow flakes you have cut out of paper. You can use candy canes. You can use presents, just get empty boxes and wrap them in holiday paper, a bow will complete the picture.
You can hang streamers around the room, in red and green of course, or red and white if you want it to be a candy cane or snow flake theme. You can put candy canes everywhere, or snowflakes, including on the tree.
You can let your kids help you make the decorations, you can set aside an evening or a Saturday for this and it will be a fun time for everyone! Then you can let them decorate, so you don't have to do all the work.
You can always get a banner that says "Merry Christmas" and put it on a wall or hanging over a table. Now that your list is complete, your invitations are sent out, and your decorations are ready it is time to finish up the job.
You can use disposable Christmas Decorated paper plates, cups, and napkins with plastic utensils. They come in many patterns, so your sure to find some that match your decorations. Turn on the Christmas music, and wait till everyone arrives.
Now its game time. There are many fun games you can arrange for your guest's entertainment.
Pin the nose on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, or Pin the Nose on the Snowman are some fun ideas the kids will love.
Musical chairs is always fun, if you have enough room for everyone. If not you could play two sessions of it, so everyone gets a chance. You already have the Christmas music playing.
Be inventive! Everyone know Simon Says, but do they know Santa Says?
You can sing Christmas Carols. You can even make song books in advance if you feel like it. This way everyone will have the words right in front of them, and you can decorate them in the theme you've decorated in.
If you really want to give the kids a thrill, you can have your husband or a friend dress up as Santa and hand out grab bags or little gifts to everyone. Can't you imagine the joy and sparkle in the eyes of all these children.
You can even take pictures of each child with Santa and send them in thank you notes. What a great gift that would be, and if you put a string or ribbon through each photo, it can become a personalized Christmas ornament. Your child can write the thank you on the back of the photo and your guests can hang it on their own Christmas tree.
I'm having so much fun thinking about all the wonderful possibilities, it makes me want to have a party too. My kids will love it.
This will be a wonderful pre-holiday celebration for you and your children, inviting friends into your home and sharing the wonders of the Christmas season with each other. No matter what Christmas ideas you decide upon, you know everyone will have a fun time, and it will be another memory of you and your family sharing good times, Isn't that what the holidays should be all about?
Have a great Christmas and Holiday season.
